A day in Belgrade at the Webflow conference — design, development and AI on one programme, and the regional creative scene in one building.

One day in Belgrade, at flowConf 2026. A conference built around Webflow, but not only about it — the programme ran across design, development, and where AI has landed in both.

Design and build in the same room

Most events pick a side. This one didn't, and that's the reason to go. The people who draw the thing and the people who build it sat through the same talks, which means the arguments happened in the room instead of six weeks later over email.

AI turned up across most of the programme, the way it turns up in most conversations this year. What made it bearable was that people treated it as a tool inside a workflow rather than a position to defend.

A flowConf banner hanging from the ceiling ducts of the hall, the crowd out of focus beneath it.
The auditorium in blue stage light, row after row of people watching a talk.
A speaker mid-sentence on stage, headset mic on and clicker in hand, against the glow of the screen behind her.
A packed side room, the speaker at the front beside a slide headed "5 steps you can apply tomorrow".
The Webflow stand in the foyer, its board reading "Make your website a growth engine".

The regional scene, in one place

The rest of the value was in the hallway. Designers and developers from across the region — the ones I otherwise only see as avatars — in one building, for a day.

That's rarer here than it sounds. A scene that only meets online stays polite. Put it in a room and you get the honest version: what people are charging, what they're quietly struggling with, how much of the AI talk survives contact with a real client.

Belgrade doesn't get many days like this. This one earned it.
